Megahome Corporation is a Taiwanese manufacturer of countertop water distillers. It was registered in Tainan, in southern Taiwan, in November 1992, and it still makes its distillers in Taiwan today. Megahome reports more than one million units sold, exports to over 60 countries and more than 30 years of exporting.
Brand histories tend to lean on adjectives. This one sticks to things you can check: a public company registry entry, an independent certificate database, importer pages and thousands of owner ratings. Where a figure comes from Megahome itself, we say so. And we are just as open about what owners find less convenient.
Who is Megahome, and when did it start?
Megahome Corporation (美家好企業股份有限公司 in Chinese) was registered on 16 November 1992 under Taiwan company number 86990255. Its address, No. 155, Keji 5th Road, Annan District, is in the Tainan Technology Industrial Park, and that is where the company manufactures its distillers.
Megahome is a manufacturer first and a brand second. Its range today is made up of countertop water distillers and the accessories that go with them: activated-carbon sachets, collection bottles, nozzle filters and a citric-acid descaling cleaner. It sells worldwide through importers, distributors and retailers rather than through a long catalogue of unrelated appliances.
What does Megahome make today?
There are four current models, all made in Taiwan:
| Model | Exterior | Rated power | Batch size | Intended use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MH-943TWS | White painted-steel housing | 580 W | 4 L | Everyday household water |
| MH-943SBS | Stainless-steel finish | 580 W | 4 L | Everyday household water |
| MH-943SWS | White edition of the stainless line | 580 W | 4 L | Everyday household water |
| MH-DA4B | Special-purpose unit | 340 W | 4 L | Specialist, small-batch water distillation |
The three household models share the same core:
- A 4-litre boiling chamber in #304 stainless steel, the standard material on every current model, under a stainless-steel steam dome.
- A fan-cooled #304 stainless-steel condensing tube with aluminium fins.
- An activated-carbon post-filter made from coconut-shell carbon. It polishes the taste and captures volatile compounds that can carry over with the steam.
- A glass or PP collection bottle.
- 580 W rated power (a 565 W heater plus a 15 W fan), about 5.5–6 hours per 4-litre batch, and automatic shut-off at the end of each batch.
According to Megahome, the accessories are made to fit all of its distiller models. To compare the models in detail, read which Megahome distiller is right for you. For the science behind them, see how a water distiller works.
What does Taiwan manufacturing mean for a distiller?
Distillation is a simple idea: boil the water, leave most dissolved substances behind, then cool the steam back into liquid. Doing that reliably every day for years depends on details. Stainless parts have to cope with constant heating and cooling, the fan and condenser have to match the heater, and the unit has to switch itself off safely when the batch is done.
Megahome builds its distillers at its own site in Tainan and keeps each one traceable. Every machine carries a serial number and a manufacturing date on its label, and the company keeps records of which serial numbers went into which shipment. That matters when a dealer needs to confirm a warranty or find out which batch a unit came from.
Shipping counts as well. In September 2026 the MH-943TWS with a glass bottle passed the ISTA 6-Amazon.com-SIOC Type A packaging test at Intertek Taiwan, with five of five samples passing. It is a test for parcels that travel in their own box, without an outer carton.
Which certifications can you check yourself?
A certification claim is only useful if you can look it up. These are the records you can check today:
| What | Details | Where to check |
|---|---|---|
| TÜV Rheinland GS mark | Certificate 50514575, held by Megahome Corporation, for models MH943T-SW and MH943S-SW | TÜV Rheinland's public Certipedia database |
| UL listing | Megahome distillers are UL-listed according to the US importer | The US importer's website |
| Company registration | Registered 16 November 1992, company number 86990255 | Taiwan's public company registry |
The GS mark (Geprüfte Sicherheit, “tested safety”) is a voluntary German product-safety mark issued by an independent testing body. Model codes on certificates do not always match the names used in shops, so if a particular certificate matters in your market, ask your seller for the document covering the exact model you are buying.
How do Megahome distillers reach more than 60 countries?
Megahome reports exports to more than 60 countries. In most markets it works through local partners:
- United States: Nutriteam has been Megahome's exclusive US importer since 2013. Megahome's US Amazon listings carry close to 5,000 ratings, averaging 4.5–4.7★ as of September 2026.
- Japan and Germany: local dealers and retailers sell the distillers. On one German retailer's product page, an owner reports about ten years of use from a first unit.
- United Kingdom: the former UK distributor closed in 2024, and some UK owners have since found it harder to get parts and service.
That last point is why after-sales support is now spelled out plainly. Megahome publishes one manufacturer's warranty worldwide: one year from the date of purchase, with no registration needed, on top of any statutory rights you have where you live. Registering your distiller is optional but gives you a direct line to the manufacturer for support, warranty records and safety notices. Spare parts are kept available for at least 10 years after a model is discontinued. You can read the details in the warranty policy and find authorised sellers on Where to buy.
What do owners say after years of use?
Average ratings hide a lot, so it helps to look at what owners actually write. On the two largest US Amazon listings:
- Overall quality: 86–92% of mentions are positive.
- Taste: 83–86% positive, with owners describing the water as “crisp, clean, no aftertaste”.
- Purity: about 90% positive. Owners report TDS meter readings of 0–6 ppm.
- Service life: owners report 6, 8 and 9+ years of daily use.
Owners are just as clear about the trade-offs:
- Speed: a 4-litre batch takes about 5.5–6 hours, so distilling suits households that plan ahead.
- Noise: the cooling fan is the most common complaint. If it gets noticeably louder over time, have it checked by your dealer.
- Durability: rated as mixed, with 59–70% of mentions positive. The fault named most often is the thermal reset switch, typically after one to two years, and scale baked onto the chamber floor makes it trip early. Descaling at least once a month, as the manual advises, is the best protection. The unit stops by itself, so you don't need a plug-in timer. See our descaling guide.
Independent reviewers have looked too. In a hands-on spotlight review of the MH-943SBS published in January 2026, Bob Vila wrote that its “quality is a grade above the rest”. Other editorial coverage is collected on our reviews page.
