Seven-day right to cancel (Taiwan orders)

Under Article 19 of Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act, you may cancel your purchase by returning the goods within 7 days of receiving them, without giving a reason and without paying any fee.

The seven days are for inspection, not for trial use

This is the long-standing position of Taiwan's Consumer Protection Committee. You may examine the product to decide whether it suits you; that is not the same as using it. The inside of a distiller is a drinking-water contact surface: once water has been added and a cycle run, we cannot sell the unit to another customer as new, and we cannot verify what liquid was placed in it (the user manual prohibits distilling petroleum, isopropyl alcohol and other hazardous liquids).

Counts as inspection — opening the carton, removing the unit and accessories, checking the appearance and that nothing is missing, and switching on to confirm the power indicator works without adding water and without running a cycle.

Goes beyond inspection — adding water and running a distillation cycle, opening the activated-carbon sachets or the cleaner, or returning a unit with water, scale or any liquid residue inside.

If the product is in that condition you may still cancel and return it, but you are liable under the Civil Code for the resulting loss in the product's value. We assess that loss at NT$800, covering full cleaning and disinfection, replacement of the carbon sachets and cleaner, and functional retesting. The amount is deducted from your refund.

This is not a restocking fee. Exercising your seven-day right costs you nothing; the amount above applies only where the product has been used and its value reduced.

How to return

  • Tell us within 7 days at info@megahome.com.tw or 06-233-8077, quoting your order number.
  • We pay the return carriage. We arrange collection; you neither ship it yourself nor pay up front.
  • Please return it in the original carton with all accessories: collection bottle, carbon sachets, cleaner, nozzle and manual.
  • Returns address: No. 155, Keji 5th Road, Annan District, Tainan City 70955, Taiwan.

Refunds

  • We refund within 7 business days of receiving the returned goods and checking their condition.
  • Bank-transfer orders are refunded to the account you nominate; we pay the transfer charge.
  • Where the value-reduction amount above applies, we itemise the deduction when we refund.

Where the seven days do not apply

Taiwan's regulation on reasonable exceptions to the distance-selling right of cancellation lists categories such as customised goods, unsealed personal hygiene products, and unsealed audio-visual or software products. A household water distiller is not one of them, so the seven-day right applies normally.

Faulty or damaged goods

A fault or transit damage is not limited by the seven-day period, and the value-reduction rule above does not apply to it. Photograph the problem and contact us; we repair or replace. The manufacturer's warranty is 1 year against defects in manufacture. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights.
